WORK has started on a new £2 million project to transform Runcorn Hill Park.

A pavilion, which will include a cafe, community space and toilets is due to open in October.

A lakeside pavilion and garden pavilion are also being built beside the bowling greens.

The improvements have been funded through the Heritage Lottery.

Halton Council landscape architect Carl Horsdal said: "Visitors will soon see the new developments takiing shape. User feedback and council experience of parks provision indicate that Runcorn Hill Park would benefit from a café facility.

"It will be a great feature and somewhere for people to relax before or after enjoying everything else the park has to offer. "

People who regularly use the park have been asked for their suggestions.
