THE wife of a motorcyclist killed following a collision in Runcorn yesterday, Tuesday, has paid tribute to him.

Martyn Platts, aged 55, a press officer for Halton Council in Widnes, died from his injuries after being involved in a collision with a wagon on the approach to the Runcorn Widnes Bridge shortly after 4pm.

His wife Pam, from Vicars Cross, Chester, said: "Martyn was one of life′s truly special people. He was a real gentleman with a heart of gold. He loved his life, his family and his friends and was cherished in return.

“He had a special place in the hearts of so many people and we will miss him."

The accident happened shortly after 4pm on April 29.

Police are appealing for information and anyone who witnesses the incident is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident 547 of 29 April 2014.
