HALTON residents are urged not to forget hospital patients as they make plans to enjoy the sunshine.

Barbara Blanche, lead donor relations manager for NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “This time of year is an important time to give, as stocks are often more vulnerable around public holidays, when people are busy getting out and about or going away for breaks.”

A blood donor session is being held in Widnes on Tuesday, May 13, at The Foundry, Lugsdale Road, from 10am to 12 noon and 1.45pm to 3.45pm.

In general, as long as you are fit and healthy, weigh over 7 stone 12 lbs (50kg) and are aged between 17 and 66 (up to 70 if you have given blood before) you should be able to give blood. If you are over 70, you need to have given blood in the last two years to continue donating.
