HUNDREDS of athletes ran over the Runcorn Widnes bridge on Easter Sunday in the annual five mile event.

It is the 14th year that Run The Bridge from Runcorn railway station to Hale Village has been held.

Many of the runners raised funds for charity.

Five members of staff from Domino’s Pizza in Widnes Road were among the teams who entered.

They raised £613 for Chesnut Lodge School and Specialist College in Green Lane, Widnes.

Store manager Michelle Welbourne said: “We heard that they wanted new equipment for a sensory room. We want to get involved in the community and give something back.”

The Domino runners included trainee manager Jason Edwards, aged 20, from Runcorn, delivery drivers Joshua Roscoe, aged 23, from Widnes and Ste Lamb, aged 48 from St Helens, and store team members Ryan Webster, aged 20, from Widnes, and Becky Jenkins, aged 18, from Widnes.
