A CYCLIST was taken to hospital by air ambulance after being seriously injured in Runcorn.

The 29-year-old man was riding a mountain bike when he came off in a wooded area in Red Brow Lane, Daresbury.

He was found by a group of cyclists shortly after 9pm on Saturday, April 19. They alerted emergency services. It is not known how long he had been there for.

A North West Amublance spokesman said the victim was found bleeding from the head and had suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to Aintree Hospital in a serious condition. 

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information, which could assist with enquiries, to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 885 of 19 April.
