HALTON firefighters are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the national car wash for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Widnes crews will be out with their buckets at Tesco in Lugdale Road on Sunday April 27, from 11am to 3pm.

Runcorn firefighters will be rolling up their sleeves at the Heath Road station on Saturday, May 3, from 10am to 4pm.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin, chairman of The Fire Fighters Charity, said: “The Fire Fighters Charity has provided assistance to serving and retired firefighters for more than 60 years.

“Unfortunately our firefighters see first hand the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions and I really hope that drivers will go along and support this event.”
