POLICE today appealed for witnesses following a series of indecent exposure incidents in the Town Park area of Runcorn.

In the latest incident, a man was seen exposing himself in a wooded area near to Phoenix Park play centre.

Community teams and patrols have been stepped up in the area.

Sgt Bill Kendrick, of Runcorn Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: "Those who witnessed what happened were understandably left very upset by this man′s behaviour.

"We take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously and local officers are doing all they can to trace the man to ensure there are no further incidents.

"Patrols have been increased in the local area to actively target the offender and to reassure local residents.

“We are advising members of the public to be vigilant when walking alone in the area and to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to police or has seen anyone acting suspiciously in that area to come forward.

“I would also encourage anyone who may have information in relation to the identity of the offender to get in touch."

The latest incident happened at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, April 8.

The man has been described as white, in his 20s with short cropped hair. He is of average slim build and was wearing a dark coloured cap. It is thought he may have been using a bike.

Anyone with any information, which might assist officers with their enquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 609 of Tuesday 8 April 2014.
