VICTORIA Wood’s much loved Acorn Antiques is making a comeback in Runcorn.

Acorn Antiques The Musical is being performed by Centenary Theatre Company at The Brindley from May 13-17.

Doddery cleaner and teamaker, Mrs Overall will make a grand entrance on an authentic Acorn stairlift, on loan from the Yorkshire based manufacturer.

Retired teacher Marilyn Baxter, who follows in the footsteps of Julie Walters as Mrs Overall, said:”It’s been great fun.

“There is a lot of singing and dancing.

“It’s a super company to work with, we’re like one big family.”

Mrs Overall practised travelling on a stairlift at the Runcorn home of Ken and Glenys Griffiths in Maple Avenue, Sutton Weaver.

Victoria Wood based her parodic soap on the long running Crossroads serial. Acorn Antiques ran from 1985 to 1987. She turned into a musical in 2005.

Tickets are available from the box office on 0151 907 8360 or online at thebrindley.org.uk.
