A GIFTED gymnast hopes to make her debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.

Trampolinist Olivia Kenny, a 14-year-old pupil at SS Peter & Paul Catholic College in Widnes, is competing in the European championships in Portugal next week as part of the GB squad.

She is already the north west under16s and elite champion.

At the world championships in Bulgaria, she achieved 13th for her age.

She competes as an individual and member of a synchronised display team.

Her mum, Nicky, aged 41, from Speke, said: “She just loves it. She is so dedicated and works so hard.

“She is bright, determined, and very focused on her goals.”

Olivia joined Focus Gymnastics in Widnes when she was five and trains 20 hours a week at Liverpool Trampoline Club.

She hopes to qualify for the world championships in Florida in November.

She is appealing for sponsors to help fund her training, kit, travel and accommodation which cost around £4,000 last year.
