GIANT colourful murals will soon be displayed around a new building development in Widnes town centre.

Art students from Cronton Sixth Form College have been working with Widnes artist Natalie McGhan to create some imaginative work.

Natalie, who specialises in community murals, has been helping the young people to understand the demands of working as a professional artist.

Art and design tutor Mark Smith said: “Forming new links with partners in the local community is a real priority for us.

“We warmly welcomed this great opportunity to work with new local partners and create an exciting community-focussed artwork.

“The students have really enjoyed the process of creating the mural. Although the planning and design stages were very rigorous and tightly brief focussed, the process of painting the final work was definitely fun.

“The students became really excited as they watched their ideas take shape on such a large and impressive scale.”

The murals will be unveiled in Albert Square on April 9 by the Mayor of Halton, Clr Margaret Ratcliffe.
