A YOUNG artist has had one of her drawings exhibited in the House of Commons.

Megan Jenner, aged 17, from Runcorn was invited to London by the Association of Colleges to see her work on display.

She is studying A level fine art and computer game design at Priestley College.

The national exhibition was hosted by Alan Johnson MP and attended by Education Secretary Michael Gove.

Former Heath pupil, Megan, from Brookvale, said: “It’s the first time I have ever had my work exhibited so it is very exciting.

“I’ve been to London but never the House of Commons. It was great.”

Megan has been drawing since she was a little girl and was inspired by her granddad, George Arthur Gittens, who used to paint birds on local waters.

Her study of a bird in flight is part of her exam work.

Priestley tutor Steven Lane said: “To be chosen from so many other pieces of art that will have been submitted for a national exhibition such as this is an incredible achievement.”
