BBC Breakfast Show presenter Steph McGovern will be guest speaker at an international event in Runcorn.

The Heath Business and Technical Park is hosting a business debate, exhibition and networking forum on Thursday, June 26, as part of Liverpool’s International Festival for Business programme.

The seven-week festival will attract business and trade delegates from around the world.

John Lewis, managing director of SOG Ltd, owner and operator of The Heath, said: “We are delighted Steph McGovern has agreed to be our keynote speaker for this important event.

“ Steph is not only a high-profile business presenter on the Breakfast programme but she also has a very keen interest in science and engineering.”

Steph, who studied science communication and policy at University College London, was awarded ‘Young Engineer for Britain’ when she was 19 after one of her designs saved tools manufacturer Black & Decker £1 million.

The Heath’s event, staged in partnership with Halton Council, will address the skills needed in the science, technology and advanced manufacturing sector.

A ‘Question Time’ style debate will focus on key issues facing high-tech businesses in the current climate, concentrating on how organisations in the science, technology and advanced manufacturing sector can access highly skilled and motivated individuals to help them to prosper.

There will be master classes on subject including technical apprenticeshops, accessing funding, and scientific glassblowing.

Leading technical businesses will be showcasing their skills.

Schoolchildren and students will be able to learn about careers in science through a series of innovative demonstrations and workshops.
