GIFTED pupils have discovered valuable tips on how to improve their writing and achieve better results.
High achieving year eleven pupils from Halton schools joined a fast paced, interactive English Language masterclass on how to use terminology efficiently in exam answers.
The youngsters were shown techniques such as structure, diction and imagery and encouraged to put their skills into practice.
They worked with A-level teachers Barbara Jennion and Catherine Heaton to analyse a poem by Carol Ann Duffy.
Helen Chappell, college head of school for English said: “It was great to see pupils from such a variety of schools working together while learning new language skills that will help them to achieve top grades.
“We hope this has ignited their enthusiasm for English and they will consider studying English at A-level.”
Students from The Grange, Wade Deacon, St Chads, SS Peter and Paul and The Bankfield School took part.
