HALTON residents have been given extra time to save money on their energy bills.

The Merseyside Collective Switch exclusive energy deals have been extended until midnight on Monday, March 31.

The Switch Together, Save Together scheme is organised by local charity, Energy Projects Plus, together with the six Merseyside local authorities, including Halton Council.

It aims to reduce people’s energy bills by collective buying power to negotiate cheaper tariffs from energy suppliers and making it easier for people to switch.

Ellie Abernethy, project manager at Energy Projects Plus said: “We are really pleased with the level of response we have received so far, and now the offers have been extended even more local people have the opportunity to benefit from the scheme and save on their bills."

Exclusive offers are available from British Gas and Scottish Power and include the cheapest fixed British Gas tariff which protects against any price rises until June 2015.

The last Merseyside Collective Switch saved residents a total of £76,435 on their energy bills. The average savings were £110 a year and some people saved more than £500.
