CREATIVE children at a Runcorn school staged their very own Great British Bake Off.

Pupils at St Mary’s CE Primary School in Castlefields made 270 cakes for charity.

Their efforts raised £573.19 for Sport Relief.

Classroom support assistant Lynda Hughes said: “We had all the ingredients donated by Asda and Tesco and our parents donated cakes for an afternoon ttea.

“Children decorated the cakes for 50p each. There was a best bake competition by children and parents.”

Mum Helen Harrison made a giant Sport Relief cake.

Other fun games included guessing how many sweets were in a jar and the weight of a cake, plus lots of raffles.

Pupils Arabella Mitchell, aged 10, and her sisters, Daisy, aged four and Autumn, aged three, baked 135 cup cakes raising £135.

The school would like to thank everyone who helped to make the event such a success.
