Firefighters tackled arson attack at St Michael's golf course

VANDALS set fire to the boarded up St Michael’s golf course in Ditton Road, Widnes.

Firefighters tackled the blaze with hand extinquishers.

This is the latest in a spate of arson attacks at the site.

The incident happened shortly before 5pm on Saturday, March 22.

The 18-hole golf course has been closed since arsenic was discovered at the site in 2004.

It is currently undergoing a major remediation.
