Widnes Vikings become restaurant waiters for a fun-filled fundraising event
THREE Vikings supporters had a night to remember as they were joined for dinner by Widnes stars Pat Ah Van and Macgraff Leuluai.
Amy O’Connor, Clare Jones and Gary Whitley were treated to a chicken feast at Nando’s at The Hive in Widnes after winning a competition.
It follows a fundraising evening at the restaurant when 12 Viking stars joined Kemik The Viking at the restaurant.
They swapped their playing shirts for Nando’s aprons and baseball caps as they cooked and waited tables.
The night was a huge success as supporters of all ages packed the restaurant and met the Super League stars, raising more than £1,000 for Vikings In The Community initiatives.
Nando’s donated money taken on chicken sales over a two hour period.
The Vikings invited supporters to guess the total amount raised.
Three fans were closest to the £1293 total.
Pat Ah Van said: “It’s always great to meet supporters and we spent a few hours chatting with Amy, Clare and Gary over a delicious Nando’s. It was fun to meet them and they all enjoyed the evening.”
Macgraff Leuluai added: “All the players are big fans of Nando’s Widnes and it’s like a second home for myself and Pat.
“We had a great evening and we are really grateful for Nando’s for their hospitality and the money they donated to our Vikings in the Community programmes.”
