A BIG-HEARTED great granddad who won a giant Easter egg wants to treat sick children.

Runcorn dad-of-five Eddie Shiel is donating his big chocolate treat to young patients at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

He won it in a raffle at his local, the Halfway House, in Halton Road.

Eddie, aged 64, of Dudley Avenue, who specialises in groundwork, installing fences and flagging, said: “I want to bring some happiness to sick children. They can all share it.

“I’ve got three grand children but this egg is too big for them.”

Alder Hey cares for more than 270,000 children and young people.

Cath Harding, Alder Hey Children’s Charity said: “We were touched to hear that Eddie was willing to donate his prize Easter egg to the children at Alder Hey. We really appreciate him thinking of us at this special time of year.”
