EXCITED children held a big tidy up to show they really do ‘Love Where They Live’.
Pupils from Palacefields Primary Academy teamed up with Riverside staff and local police to clear rubbish from their neighbourhood.
Laura Woodward, Riverside’s communal areas officer for Halton, said: “We managed to clear 22 bags of litter, as well as some old furniture and wood.
“The children had a fantastic time and were delighted with their goody bags as a reward for their work.
“However we would like to see more adults joining in to help keep the community litter free. Hopefully the spring weather will encourage more people outdoors to help keep our neighbourhoods clean.”
Social landlord Riverside is backing the Keep Britain Tidy campaign to encourage neighbours to get out and about to show pride in their neighbourhoods.
Laura added: “I was shocked at the amount of dog dirt we saw. We are keen to encourage responsible pet ownership, with people cleaning up after their dogs to keep our neighbourhoods faeces free.”
Riverside plans to work with Halton Council to launch an anti-dog fouling campaign.
