AN air ambulance was called after a young rugby player was injured in Widnes on Saturday.
It landed in Prescot Road at 3.35pm but when the helicopter arrived paramedics decided the casualty did not need to be air lifted.
A spokesman for North West Air Ambulance said: “We were called to an incident involving a young male with a rugby injury.
“We did not air lift him. It was deemed that it wasn’t necessary.
“He was taken to Whiston Hospital by the land crew.”
The incident happened on Saturday, March 15.
