STORIES sprang to life across Halton as pupils and teachers dressed up as their favourite characters to celebrate World Book Day.

Warrington Road Nursery School Head teacher Amanda Brown said: “We aim to foster a love of books in all children. Book day allows us to have fun dressing up alongside talking about characters, what happens in stories, and encouraging children to retell their favourite stories too.”

Students and staff at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy joined the fun.

Paul Finnigan, head of English, said: “Our students threw themselves into all the activities with enthusiasm. It was great to see some of the very impressive creative writing that they produced.”

Pupils and teachers at SS Peter & Paul Catholic College also brought literature to life.

Principal Wendy White said: “This celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading is a fun way of reinforcing what we do all year round to encourage our young people to explore, be curious and learn more about the world by reading books.”
