HALTON residents can now save money on their train travel, following the launch the first Railcard to launch in Britain in 30 years.

The new Two Together Railcard gives couples and pairs of friends or relatives a third off when they travel together.

The card costs £30 a year and is expected to save passengers around £100 a year.

David Mapp, commercial director at the Association of Train Operating Companies, said: “The Two Together Railcard has been launched to deliver savings to passengers in Runcorn and Widnes.

“Ideal for visiting family and friends, day trips or weekend breaks, the Two Together Railcard is on track to make train journeys more affordable for pairs of passengers.

“This new Railcard doesn’t just save money on travel, it also allows for savings on attractions, theatre shows, restaurants, hotels and more.”

With no limit on the number of times it can be used, the discounted tickets to ride are available on standard and first class, anytime, off-peak and advance fares for travel after 0930 Monday to Friday and all day on weekends and bank holidays.

The Two Together Railcard is available online at twotogether-railcard.co.uk or at any staffed national rail station, including Runcorn.
