A TEENAGE girl was indecently assaulted in Runcorn yesterday.

The 17-year-old was followed by a man as she walked along a a path from Main Street to Holt Lane in Halton Village.

As they reached the path by the roundabout, he walked alongside her and grabbed her inappropriately before running off.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and warn women to be vigilant.

PC Christopher Birchall said: "I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and extra police and support officers will be patrolling the area.

"We would advise residents to remain vigilant and take basic precautions such as not going to isolated areas alone, keeping to well lit areas and reporting any suspicious activity to police."

The attack happened at around 6.40pm on Sunday, March 2.

The man is described as white, in his mid 20s, around 6ft tall and of stocky build.

He had shaved ginger or fair hair and was wearing a grey hooded top and grey jogging bottoms. He was carrying a black sports bag.
