A MAN in his 60s has died after his car hit a lamppost in Cronton.
Police closed Cronton Road at 1.25pm this afternoon, Tuesday, after reports of a blue Vauxhall Astra involved in an accident.
The driver was taken to hospital where he died.
Police say they do not believe any other vehicles were involved.
The road was reopened around 4.30pm after collision investigators with Merseyside Police had carried out their work.
The man has been identified and his next of kin are being informed.
The road was closed between the junction of Cronton Road and Alder Lane and at the junction of Cronton Road and Wheatfield Road.
