Runcorn and Widnes World: Learn traditional crafts like bee keeping on Norton Priory courses Learn traditional crafts like bee keeping on Norton Priory courses

CRAFTS used at Runcorn’s Norton Priory for 900 years are being brought back to life.

Local residents can now step back in time and master a variety of skills at workshops run by experts.

Norton Priory ranger Paul Quigley said: “These courses are an ideal way for people to find out more about these ancient crafts and have a go at learning these skills for themselves.

“We’ve handpicked the best local craftsmen to demonstrate their techniques and share their secrets.”

The traditional skills programme has been inspired by the ancient priory, the later mansion houses and the surrounding natural landscape.

Bee-keeping, basket makinig, stained glass making, hedge laying, garden gate making and pottery are among the workshops on offer.

Courses start on Sunday, February 23, and cost from £25. No previous experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. For details of the programme and to book, visit nortonpriory.org
