LESSONS were replaced with a range of special activities and educational trips for pupils at SS Peter & Paul Catholic College in Widnes last week as part of an enrichment week.

Various groups of students visited Florida, New York, Berlin and Barcelona.

Pupils at the school embarked on a creative programme of literacy, dance and drama with visiting poets, authors and a theatre company.

They were challenged to take part in a mammoth Spelling Bee competition.
Poet Curtis Watt performed a selection of his work.

Philip Caveney, author of the Sebastian Darke novels, inspired students to produce their own stories.

A local theatre company, Tiny Giants performed a production based on road safety.

Teacher Jane Hines said: “The theatre company worked closely with all our students in a range of workshops, leading to group performances that showcased all the talent in year seven.”
