YOUNGSTERS from across Halton were celebrating after picking up their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

The Brindley hosted an awards presentation for the 178 young people picking up their awards.

And Mayor of Halton Clr Margaret Ratcliffe, who herself picked up an award, handed out certificates.

Supporting the awards in the borough were Ashley School, Cavendish School, Saints Peter and Paul School, St Chads School, The Bankfield School, Catch 22 Halton Youth Provision and Halton Access to Sport.

Clr Ratcliffe said: “I am well aware of the commitment and dedication required to achieve a D of E Award. I am really proud of the achievements of our young people and was delighted to be asked to be involved with the ceremony."
