A MUSIC and real ale festival is being launched in Widnes.

The three day event is expected to attract thousands of visitors to Victoria Park from March 7-9.

It will showcase artisan beers, draught ales and traditional ciders with acoustic live music performed in a grand marquee.

Halton Clr Eddie Jones, board member for economic development, said: “We are delighted that Halton has acquired the hosting of this prestigious festival with Real Festivales.

“We trust that local people will come along and enjoy the friendly ambiance.

“The festival is expected to be a pleasant experience in a fully secured environment.”

The Mac Bros will be performing on Friday evening and Marc Kenny on Saturday.

Real Festivales event organiser Andy Mulholland, manager of The Ferry Tavern in Penketh, said: “We have run several events similar to this in the past and know there is a real appetite for this unique venture.

“People want to sample and enjoy good beer in the company of their friends while enjoying quality live music.”

The festival runs from 6pm-11pm on Friday, midday to 4pm and 6pm-11pm on Saturday, and midday to 5pm on Sunday.

Tickets priced from £5 are available online from realfestivales.com or The Ferry Tavern, and includes entrance, an event programme and glass (to be returned at the end of the session).

A hog roast and a variety of hot and cold food will be on sale.
