TALENTED chldren demonstrated their sporting skills at the annual Runcorn Primary School table tennis competition at Security Stadium.
Teams from Woodside, Gorsewood, Our Lady’s and St Berteline’s took part.
A group of 44 newly qualified junior umpires from The Heath School officiated at the games.
St Berteline’s were crowned 2014 champions after beating Woodside in the final.
Our Lady’s came third and Gorsewood fourth.
Great Britain paralympic table tennis champion, Jack Hunter Spivey, aged 18, from Stewards Avenue, Widnes, staged a demonstration match and hosted a question and answer question session.
He recently returned from the World Paralympic Table Tennis Championship qualifiers in San Diego with a gold and bronze medal which he brought along to show the children.
The Mayor of Halton, Clr Margaret Ratcliffe, said: “I really enjoyed seeing so many enthusiastic young players and umpires from our schools.
“Table tennis is a growing sport in Halton and along with the success of Jack Hunter-Spivey, we have many future stars in the making.”
