THE organisers of Creamfields now have a permanent licence to hold the music festival in Daresbury.

Councillors backed the move at a meeting in Runcorn last Thursday.

It means Cream will not have to apply for a licence to stage the three-day music festival, which takes place over the August bank holiday, again.

The deal also allows music from 3pm until 11pm on the Friday night - turning the event into a three-day long spectacular.

Capacity will also grow by 10,000 from 2013 to 69,999.

Only one resident wrote in to complain about the move while there were also objections from Hatton Parish Council and Stretton Parish Council.

Clr Paul Kennedy (Con - Hatton, Stretton and Walton) said it was important dialogue continues with the organisers in coming years - even though they no longer need to apply for a licence.

He added: “I am very concerned that indefinite licences lead to a lack of accountability and a potential lowering of standards.”

However his suggestion of a three-year licence was ignored.
