A TEENAGE girl has been robbed in Runcorn.

The 14-year-old was approached from behind by a man who pulled her bag and caused her to lose her footing.

He snatched a mobile phone out of her hand and ran off.

Detectives today appealed for information.

DC Richard Kirby said: "The victim was understandably very shaken by what happened and we are doing all we can in a bid to trace the offender.

"We take any incidents of this nature seriously and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"I am appealing for anyone with any information, which could assist with our enquiries, to come forward and speak to us.”

The incident happened at 3.10pm on Thursday, January 16, in woodland behind Saltwood Drive and Murdishaw Avenue.

The offender is described as white, aged around 30-years-old, of slim build and around 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a black waterproof jacket and trousers, grey gloves and grey trainers.

Anyone with any information, which could assist officers with their enquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 568 of 16 January.
