BENJAMIN Britten’s opera Peter Grimes, performed by English National Opera in London, is being screened live at The Brindley in cinematic high definition.
The film will be shown at 3pm on Sunday, February 23.
Halton Council's arts development officer, Louise Hesketh, said: "This is a tremendous opportunity to see world class opera in the comfort of The Brindley. It is a one-off opportunity."
Peter Grimes contains some of the most powerful and evocative music ever written. The wildness of the sea and the instability of Grimes’s mind are superbly reflected in Britten’s music.
David Alden’s acclaimed production was a sell-out when it premiered in 2009.
ENO Music Director Edward Gardner conducts Britten’s electrifying score, with Stuart Skelton, described as the ‘definitive’ Peter Grimes, returning to the title role.
Tickets priced £10, £8 concessions are available from the box office on 0151 907 8360 or online at www.thebrindley.org.uk
