ENTHUSIASTIC volunteers launched a 12-hour bikeathon at a Runcorn gym to support the British Heart Foundation’s battle to combat heart disease, the UK’s biggest killer.
The charity is challenging everyone to Ramp Up The Red on February 7 and join the fight for every heartbeat.
Fundraisers hope to collect £500 from the fun event at the Heath Leisure Suite.
Manager Mark McGrath said: “We have nifty 50 classes and most of our members have had heart conditions.
“We cater for all ages and abilities and want to help this charity fight heart disease."
The gym has 300 members, including workers and residents who live nearby.
Louise Parkes, fundraising director at the BHF, said: “Whether it’s wearing red make up, fetching red trousers or painting your nails scarlet, Ramp Up The Red is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to think about how many lives are affected by heart disease.
“We offer our heartfelt thanks to everybody at The Heath Business Park who is fundraising for us.”
