POLICE have traced a man they wanted to speak to in connection with a serious assault in Widnes town centre.

A 49-year-old victim was left unconscious with a fractured eye socket and broken nose after an attack near the Imperial pub.

CCTV images of two men detectives wanted to talk to were issued last week.

The man, a 39-year-old, has now been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further enquiries.

Police today appealed for help in finding a second man.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday, December 22 in Albert Road at the junction of Robert Street.
