THRIVING businesses across the borough are being encouraged to shout about their success, win recognition and boost their profits.

Halton Chamber of Commerce is appealing to local companies to enter the 2014 Halton Business and Tourism Awards.

The growing number of shops throughout Runcorn and Widnes has inspired organisers to introduce a new retailer of the year category.

Paula Cain, chief executive of the chamber, said: “We’re encouraging small and medium sized businesses to enter the awards.

“The range of categories is really broad to enable as many companies and business people in Halton to enter.

“The awards reflect the local economy. This year, to recognise the many developments in the retail sector, we have introduced a Retailer of the Year Award. No matter how small the business, retailers can enter and could win the prestigious award.

“Winning business and personal awards raises your profile, enhances your reputation and even attracts new business.

“The kudos of winning one of the Halton Business and Tourism Awards goes way beyond receiving a trophy. It can help potential customers choose you over your competitors, making you more profitable.”

The awards are open to Halton based businesses that have been trading for at least six months.

Categories range from customer service and exporting to manufacturing, developing a positive environmental impact, prestigious entrepreneur, young person, business and new business of the year.

Two categories specifically for businesses in the tourism industry include visitor inspire and outstanding customer service.

Winners will be announced at an awards presentation dinner at The Holiday Inn, Runcorn, on Friday, April 11.

To enter, contact the chamber on haltonchamber.co.uk.

Closing date is the end of February.
