TWO elderly men were robbed in separate incidents on a bus in Widnes town centre yesterday.

The first victim, a 90-year-old man was getting onto a 61 bus at Morrisons when a stocky man bent down to pick up coins in front of him.

His accomplice then stole cash and credit cards from the old man’s pocket and later withdrew more than £500 from his account.

Half-an-hour later, a 78-year-old man fell victim to the same scam on a 79c bus and lost £190.

The robbers were aged 45-50.

Sgt Neil Edgar said: “I have never come across anything as despicable as this. It is horrible.

“We want to warn vulnerable elderly people to be vigilant on the buses.

“They were both very shaken and didn’t know what had happened until they realised their wallets were missing.”

The incidents happened between 11am and 2pm on Monday, January 13.

The first offender had a round, stocky face and was wearing a black North Face jacket.

His accomplice was much thinner, with a gaunt face, very gray hair and a black jacket.
