A MAN who died on the M56 at Runcorn had been involved in a collision with a lorry has been named.

He is Jake Johnson, aged 22, from Frodsham.

His family have paid tribute saying: "He was a son and brother and will be sadly missed."

Cheshire Police are appealing for any motorists who may have witnessed the incident on the M56 in which a lorry collided with a man who was in the carriageway.

The collision happened approximately half a mile from the Runcorn turn-off on the eastbound carriageway at around 5.45 pm on Monday, January 6.

Insp Liz Cunningham said: "Thanks to an earlier appeal, the driver of the red car has come forward. We would continue to appeal for witnesses who saw the collision to contact us."

As a result of the collision, the M56 was closed between junction 12 and 14 eastbound.

Vehicles caught in the incident were escorted from the motorway, but the closure remained in place for most of the evening.
