A CHINESE lantern is believed to have caused a garden shed blaze in Runcorn.

Firefighters found the shed in Oxford Road well ablaze shortly after 8.30pm on New Year’s eve.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We believe that the cause of this fire was a Chinese/flying lantern.”
