A NEW support centre has been launched to help families in Runcorn and Widnes who adopt children.

Two of the region’s leading adoption charities, Adoption Matters Northwest and Caritas Care have teamed up to provide post adoption support services.

Project manager Delyth Evans said: “People often think that once a child is placed then the relationship between the agency and the family ends, this isn’t the case. Our team will continue to work with children and their families, offering advice and support, long after the adoption is finalised.

“Large social settings such as school can sometimes be very stressful for an adopted child, which is why post adoption support is so important to a child’s development, and to ensure a smooth transition into their new home.”

The new office, The Centre for Adoption Support, is at the University of Chester’s Warrington campus in Padgate and will house a new team of social workers.

Families can contact the team on 0300 123 1066.
