ACCOMPLISHED students who achieved the best ever A Level results at Cronton Sixth Form College returned from university to celebrate their achievements.

Students of the Year awards were presented to 13 gifted teenagers at the annual A Level awards ceremony.

Philip Taylor, head of Cronton Sixth Form said: “The results of 100% pass rate and 80% high grades were the best the college has ever known.

“A raft of A* students returned from universities such as Cambridge, York, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester and Nottingham, to collect their A level certificates. Prizes were awarded for many subjects.”

Principal Mary Murphy commended students for their performances and dances, the rich literature they had studied, the science they had researched, the huge number of trips locally, nationally and internationally they had been on, along with the vast amount of money they had raised for a variety of different charities.

She said these were just some of the enrichment activities which have contributed to making Cronton such a lively and friendly place to study.

Student of the Year winners included Halton students Fiona Gray, aged 18, from The Glen, Palacefields, Runcorn, for humanities, Ryan Barnshaw, aged 18, from Castle Rise, Runcorn, for physical education, Rosie Hornby, aged 18, from Rivenmell Close, Widnes, for performing arts, Gareth Watson, aged 18, from Belvoir Road, Widnes, for IT, Samantha Filkins, aged 18, from Somerville Road, Widnes, for geography, Chelsea Hicks, aged 18, from Kensington Close, Widnes, for creative arts.
