WIDNES lad Richie Myler and former Blue Peter daredevil Helen Skelton said ‘I do’ at the weekend during a beautiful ceremony in Cumbria.

The pair tied the knot surrounded by family, friends and fellow rugby league players at St Michael's church in Kirkby Thore, near Helen’s home town in Penrith.

Villagers said there had been a 'real buzz' about the place ahead of the wedding with around 100 turning out on a wintry day to wish the couple well.

Brenda and Barry Thompson, who run the village Post Office, said: “The wedding has been the talk of the village and we will definitely walk past the church and wish her well.

“She could have had the wedding in some big place but to have it here shows what she’s like – she still has her feet on the ground.”
