A SPECIAL operation to curb alcohol related crime and disorder in Runcorn now in operation.

ArcAngel targets underage drinking and other alcohol-fuelled disturbances.

Halton Council joined forces with Cheshire Police to launch Runcorn Operation ArcAngel at the Daresbury Park Hotel.

Evidence shows that violent crime and anti-social behaviour often have alcohol as their cause.

Through ArcAngel, Cheshire Constabulary and its community safety partners aim to achieve the following: • Encourage responsible drinking, discourage binge drinking and drinking in public • Target hotspot locations and prolific and persistent offenders of alcohol-related violent crime and disorder • Help reduce the number of incidents of alcohol-related serious woundings, common assaults and Accident and Emergency admissions • Improve the care and support for victims and witnesses of alcohol-related violent crime • Help people feel safer during their nights out • Raise public awareness about the issue of alcohol-related violence and disorder and the penalties that will be imposed against offenders.

The ArcAngel initiative is a unique opportunity for licensed premises to play an active part in the communities they serve. There are many benefits to being part of the ArcAngel initiative for licensees and customers, in terms of service and safety.
