A FLOURISING engineering firm is expanding its operations in Widnes and creating new jobs.

Hutchinson Engineering, which makes wind turbines, has taken on a new 40,000 sq ft premises next door to its steel manufacturing factory in Everite Road, increasing its workforce by 20 per cent.

The new site, which is the company’s HQ, will be fully operational in the New Year and will help the company fulfil a number of new contracts in the wind power market.

Managing director Dean Drinkwater said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the keys to our new site, enabling us to increase production and take on a further 20 skilled staff.

“We have seen phenomenal growth in recent years and we are thrilled we now have the capacity to keep up with the renewable energy sector and hopefully secure our future in the town for many years to come.”

Hutchinson Engineering reached a turnover of £12 million in 2012 and has become a leading player in the supply of wind turbines that can generate from 50 up to 800kWh, used on small wind farms.

The company manufactures small and mid-sized wind turbines.

The firm also designs and manufactures structures for the telecoms industry and is involved in the major 4G network roll out for the major UK mobile networks.

Hutchinson is distinguished by its international reputation for engineering excellence, serving a wide range of business customers.

The company is frequently called upon to engineer and fabricate highly specialised structures and equipment.
