CHRISTMAS elves greeted customers at the opening of Runcorn’s new £8 million Lidl store.

Shoppers were able to sample a selection of festive goodies and children chatted to Santa in his grotto.

The German discount chain has created 20 full and part-time jobs at the new supermarket beside Asda in West Lane.

The store has been built on the former Vestric site beside a new Polar Ford car dealership.
