VIKINGS stars teamed up with Widnes schoolchildren to bring history to life.

Pupils at Spinney Avenue Primary School asked rugby players to help them with an innovative fashion project.

Imaginative children created a 60s fashion show and borrowed strips from the team to demonstrate how styles have changed over the years.

The students then held their own press conference to unveil the team’s new 2014 away kit.

Widnes players Danny Galea, Paul Johnson, Stefan Marsh and Danny Tickle then stepped out on stage with pupils, Holly Roberts and Emily Roberts.

Head teacher Carol Lawrenson said: “The kit is the second part of the campaign, ‘Worn with pride, made with honours’. It fits in with our current enquiry studies.

“It celebrates the exciting and successful history of our local club.

“Holly and Emily were incredible and looked like naturals in front of the cameras. They represented our school impeccably and we are all very proud of them “The whole school created a wonderful atmosphere with positive energy, roaring chants and lots of cheering and applause.”
