Anyone in need of company or looking to get out and do something different over the festive period is invited to drop in on one of two Winter Warm Up events being held in Runcorn and Widnes.

The events, funded by Plus Dane and SHAP, are a festive bid to reduce social isolation in the neighbourhoods we serve, and also to offer a few hours of respite for those struggling to heat their homes this winter.

Open to people of all ages across Halton, they will provide a chance for those living locally to meet new people or just get out of the house for a few hours.

Free hot food and refreshments will be provided, and there will be musical entertainment, story sessions with the Reader Organisation, and an art project to get involved in.

There will also be a free raffle, with a microwave oven as the star prize. Winter Warmth items to take away will also be available.

The events will be supported by volunteers from Plus Dane, SHAP and Halton Borough Council. Local businesses and charities will also be donating time and goods on the day.

The Winter Warm Up events will take place on Monday, December 30 between 11am and 3pm, simultaneously at the Old Police Station on Bridge Street in Runcorn and Trinity Church, Peel House Lane in Widnes.

If you would like more information telephone the Plus Dane customer contact number on 0800 169 2988 and ask for a Halton-based officer, or email plusdaneshap@neighbourhoodinvestor.com
