CARERS’ rights day in Halton has been hailed a success.
Practical support and information was offered to people who look after their loved ones.
Twenty new carers registered for help and dozens more received advice on benefits at stands in Widnes Market and Runcorn Shopping Centre.
Halton Clr Marie Wright, board member for health and adults, said: "Caring can come at great cost to carers. It is important, especially in this economic climate they get what they are entitled to."
Carers Rights Day aims to make carers aware of different kinds of practical support that could support them.
This year's theme was 'rights, advice, support', ensuring that carers understand their rights and get access to good quality advice that can support them to care.
A Halton Carers' Forum event included a quiz on knowledge of what they knew about their rights, caring in Halton and how they wanted to receive information.
