Children and staff praised at Widnes nursery
STAFF and pupils at a Widnes nursery have been commended by Ofsted inspectors.
Willowdene Day Nursery opposite Victoria Park in Fairfield Road was declared ‘outstanding’ for its early years provision for the wellbeing of children.
It opened in 1995 and employs 14 staff to look after 68 children.
Inspector Dorothy Williams said: “Children’s behaviour is exceptional because staff are exemplary role models.
“This ensures that chiildren are well motivated and eager to join in all activities.
“Staff give high priority to children’s early language development, personal, social and emotional skills and physical environment.”
Children grow their own fruit and vegetables which is used in nursery meals and snacks.
They also look after a rabbit which helps them to appreciate animals.
Owners Tony and Linda Molyneux said: “We are so proud of the staff.
“We know how much hard work they put in with the children and the effort they put in every single day to make our nursery such a happy place for children to spend their early years.”
