Students stage charity carnival at Cronton in aid of diabetes
A CARNIVAL staged by Riverside College students has raised £527 for Diabetes UK.
The event transformed the sports hall at the Cronton campus into a fun-packed activity centre.
A rowing competition, penalty shoot out, tug of war, tin can alley and lots of stalls were organised.
Jade Roberts, uniformed services tutor who masterminded the event said: "All of the uniformed services students were involved in the success of the day. It was great to see all of the other students and staff coming and getting involved in the activities.
“Uniformed Services students have to complete voluntary work as part of their course but they really put 100% into the event, which raised £527.34. I am really proud of them.
"The students have been inspired by my own stories of living with diabetes, and other students who have family members, who are diabetic.
“They were very keen to raise funds in order to establish a possible vaccine against diabetes in the future."
Some of the students had already raised £816.36 for diabetes.
