Halton Haven Warriors ready for 'Hell' run
12:00pm Friday 25th October 2013 in News
SOME of Runcorn’s finest athletes are currently preparing themselves for the toughest event of their lives.
The Halton Haven Warriors will be taking on the UK’s most physically and mentally demanding event Hell Runner on Saturday to raise cash for the hospice.
The group of dedicated fundraisers have already taken part in various challenge events including the notorious ‘Rat race dirty weekend’ and ‘Tough Mudder’ but this time they will be tackling a 12 mile off track run in Delamere Forest.
Fundraiser Simon Li said: “As soon as one challenge event has been completed, momentum gathers for what the next challenge will be and is fuelled by the enthusiasm of people who have taken part in the events.
“The interest the Halton Haven Warriors is receiving is phenomenal.
“We have more than 30 people taking part in our next big challenge, Hell Runner, and it’s still not too late to take part.”
Since the group was started, more than £20,000 has been raised for the hospice.
The Warriors hold regular training sessions together to ensure team morale and fitness levels are high.
Simon added: “I suppose the great thing about the group taking part is the mixture of athletic abilities.
“We have young men and women in their late 40s/50s which shows that age is not a barrier.
“We’ve had quite a few new members this year, which is fantastic, it starts like a ripple and it’s quite a knock on effect.
“We now have over 100 members within the Halton Haven Warriors group which started from November last year.”
